Maxine Stone passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 99. She was born on July 28, 1927, and lived a long life that will be remembered with love by those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Hales; her grandchildren, Jesse Handley and David Handley; her great-granddaughters, Emilee Handley and Lilah Handley; and her sister, Mert Barnes. They carry forward her memory with affection and gratitude, and will hold close the many moments they shared with her through the years.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Fray Stone, daughters, Janice Stone and Kathy Bowers, parents, Claborn and Cora Lee Abbott and 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Their memory remained an important part of her life and family story.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Nichols Marion County Funeral Home, 3325 Bexar Avenue East, Hamilton, AL 35570. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at Nichols Marion County Funeral Home.
