Maxine Riddle Johnson, 89, of Leighton, AL, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Colbert Memorial Gardens from 12 to 1 with a service to follow at 1. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Mark Mayfield will be officiating the service.
Maxine and her husband owned and operated Johnson T.V. repair. She was a member of Leighton Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. For many years, she served as the welcoming face of NorthWest Shoals Community College, working as a secretary. Maxine’s favorite time of year was Christmas, when she enjoyed decorating her home. She also loved to travel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Cordie Riddle; husband, James Harley Johnson; sisters, Christine Storey, Karen Toy; brother, Robert Riddle; father and mother in-law, Sidney and Bessie Johnson; brother-in-law, Earl Johnson.
She is survived by nieces, Janet Shoemaker (Larry), Teresa Baker (Ray), Heather Cox (Garret); nephew, Jay Johnson (Karla), great nieces, Maryann Baker, Larissa Ross (Ryan), Caroline, CeCe, and Catherine Cox; great nephew, Mark Shoemaker (Jennifer), Riley Johnson; sister-in-law’s, Diane Johnson, Keitha McNatt (Donald); numerous great-great niece’s and nephew’s.
Pallbearers will be, James (Jay) Johnson, Garret Cox, Ray Baker.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Leighton Baptist Children’s Church or NorthWest Shoals Community College Scholarship Fund.
