Max Henry, born April 5, 1948, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by the people who loved him most.
Max was preceded in death by his father, Tom Henry; his mother, Janie Henry; and his brother, Ray Henry (Judy).
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Henry, whom he married on November 28, 1968. He is also survived by his daughter, Amanda Hollaway (Stacy); his son, Lee Henry (April); his brothers, Donnie Henry (Shiela) and Bruce Henry (Patricia); and his grandchildren, Max Aaron Hollaway (Christian), Luke Hollaway, Brodie Henry, and Sophie Henry.
Max started working for Brindlee Mountain Telephone Company at just 16 years old and spent many years there before continuing his career in telecommunications at Marshall Space Flight Center in 1984. During his time at NASA, he received the Silver Snoopy Award, one of his proudest accomplishments. He continued working there until retiring in 2020.
He also proudly served in the Alabama National Guard.
More than anything though, Max loved his family. He was always there for the people he loved, whether it was showing up to ballgames, school events, or just being someone you could count on no matter what. He was steady. Strong. The kind of man who never had to demand respect because the way he carried himself earned it naturally.
Max was a man of faith who stood strong in the Word of God throughout his entire life. Even during difficult times, his faith never wavered. The example he set as a husband, father, grandfather, and man of God will stay with his family forever.
He will be deeply missed and deeply loved.
