Max G. “Bud” Walling, age 82, passed away at his home on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Max was born on April 28, 1943, to the late Charlie and Emma Keener Walling. He cherished his family, brought energy and generosity to benefit auctions as an auctioneer, and devoted himself to helping others through mission work.
In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his wife; Wava Carol Clark Walling, siblings; Jean Angel, Wallace Walling, Winona Bouldin, Donald Walling, Hallie Shockley, Mary (Mink) Walling, Lerone Carter, Marie Keener, Leonard and Nona V. Price
Max is survived by his loving family, children; Emma Walling, Levis Walling, Jennifer (David) Harvey, Deanna Melton, Susan Walling, Tina Walling, Jackie Walling, brother; Frank Kell, grandchildren; Carolyn (Ashton) Hale, Chris Walling, Catie Harvey, Charlie Harvey, Wavarly Walling, Kim Harvey, great-grandchildren; Hudsen Hale, Layton Hale, Tanner Harvey, fur babies; Lily, Bear, and Prince. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and foster children also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Max Walling will be held on Friday February 20, 2026, at 2:00pm in the Layne Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. R.C. Christian officiating. Burial will follow in Walling Cemetery. Visitation times are, Wednesday February 18, 2026, from 3:00pm-9:00pm, Thursday February 19, 2026, from 8:00am-8:00pm, and Friday February 20, 2026, from 9:00am until the time of service at 2:00pm.
