Mavis P. Winchester, 89, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at El Reposo Nursing Facility. She was born in Itawamba County, Mississippi, to Clyde and Mary Stockton Pearson. Mavis was a devoted homemaker who deeply loved her family and cherished her flowers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay, Alabama, with Kenneth Winchester and Brayden Winchester officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her sons, Ken Winchester (Brigitte) and Gary Winchester (Lynn); two grandchildren, Brayden Winchester and Briana Winchester Hyde (Austin); and one brother, Danny Pearson (Jeannette).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Winchester; her parents; three brothers, Price Pearson, Cecil Pearson, and Uvil Pearson; and one sister, Clydie Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
