Bro. Maurice Leon Pinkston went to be with Jesus on April 27, 2018. He was born April 28, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee to Walter and Kathleen Pinkston. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Soon after he was called to preach and spent the rest of his life in service to his Lord. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and remained a life-long learner. He loved God’s word and dedicated himself to seeking the truths and promises provided therein. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Belmont, MS.

He would have celebrated 56 years of marriage to Linda Gray on September 1. This union was blessed with two daughters. He was a husband, father, and friend but above all he was a servant. He was a Pastor. He loved God and sought to always follow His leading. He gave his life to others and was driven by the desire to bring others to the saving grace of Jesus. His ministry was all about sharing the love of Jesus. He ministered to a countless number of people as Pastor of Baptist churches in Tennessee, Texas and Mississippi. Isaiah 55:11 tells us that “my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”. Bro. Pinkston may never know how many lives he touched during his ministry but we know that God’s promises are true and every word shared did not return empty.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Otis Pinkston and Robert Pinkston. He is survived by his loving wife Linda Gray Pinkston; two daughters: Michelle Pinkston Hall (Matthew) and Lynita Pinkston Davis (Shawn); his grandchildren: Andrew Wiesing and Felicia Carter, Zachary Wiesing (Lauren), Abigail Wiesing and Hannah Davis; his great-grandchildren: Lexi McCord, Brentlee Maurice Wiesing and Charlie Killian Wiesing; two sisters Shirley Taylor of West Virginia and Dottie Mitchell of Franklin, TN and one brother Grant Pinkston (Fran) of Memphis, TN and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS and from 11-1 on Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, Belmont, MS.

A celebration service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday April 30, at Calvary Baptist Church, Belmont, MS with Bro. Larry Hill and Bro. Shawn Davis officiating.
