Mattie Louise Gist, 86, of Greenhill, passed away Oct. 27, 2013, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home. She was a member of Atlas Church of Christ and was retired from Sanders Candy Factory in Detroit, Mich.
Survivors include son, Michael Kim Gist and wife, Jessica, Taylor, Mich.; brothers, Thomas Thompson, Killen,
Robert Thompson, Muscle Shoals, Haroldean Thompson, Killen, and Donald Thompson, Sheffield; sisters, Glenda Faye Dodd, Cypress Inn, Tenn., and
Sue Darby, Florence;
grandchildren, Audrey Parrish and husband, Jason, and
Holly Richer and husband, Nick;
great-grandchild, Damien Parrish; and special friend, Pete Killen.
She was preceded in death by
husband, Roy Gist;
parents, Benjamin and Jessie Thompson;
brother, Charles Thompson; and sister, Peggy Clemmons.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 31, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Atlas Church of Christ. The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the church with Miles Stutts officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg Thompson, Wesley Thompson, Benny Thompson, Keith South, Robert Jenkins and Shawn English.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the North Alabama Christian Children’s Home.
