Matthew William Hunter, 38, of New Hope, passed away Tuesday.

Matthew lived in New Hope all his life, a place he was proud to call home. He had a natural gift for storytelling and loved making people laugh with his jokes. Matthew was a devoted family man who loved his family dearly and worked hard to provide for them. He took great pride in his work as an auto mechanic, a job he truly enjoyed. Soft-hearted and kind, Matthew would help anyone in need and never hesitated to lend a hand. His generosity, humor, and love for others will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by infant son, Matthis Hunter; grandfathers, William Henderson Morgan and Ollis Buddy Hunter; uncles, John Hunter and Chris Dulaney; and cousin, Tara Morgan.

Surviving are wife, Carmen Hunter; sons, Miles William Hunter and Marcus Wayne Hunter; daughter, Frida Rayn Hunter; father, Curtis Hunter; mother, Kelly Hunter; brother, Russell (Kristi) Hunter; grandmothers, Patsy Morgan and Barbara Hunter; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Monday at 1:00 PM with Bro. Keith Click officiating. Pallbearers will be Russell Hunter, TJ Osborne, TJ Schrimsher, Will Morgan, Donnie Meeks, and Cory Cooper.

Interment will be in Brown Cemetery.
