A native of Cherokee, AL, Matthew was born on September 18, 1987. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Thomas and Bobbie Nix and great-grandmother, Myrtle Speegle.
Matthew is survived by his father, Melvin Nix (Diana); mother, Paulette Nix-Ponder (Monroe); grandparents, Billy and Betty Aday; sister, Melissa Nix; step-brothers, Brandon and Mikey Merritt; step-sisters, Whitney Myrick (Evan) and Krystal Ponder; special aunt, Amy Aday; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers include Jordan Aday, Barry Aday, Anthony Aday, Shawn Hines, Brandon Merritt, and Evan Myrick. Eddie Strickland will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
