Masel Marie Petty Masel Marie Petty was born on June 5, 1932, in Erin, TN, to Luther Paul Knight and Masel Gertrude Tate Knight, and passed away on May 15, 2023, in Athens, AL. She was the incredible matriarch of our family. She loved all of us deeply and fully. Always, loyal, gentle and dependable, Marie was the kind of person who had love in her heart for anyone who joined our lives. She was an honorary Grandmom to all.

She was gifted in hospitality and always made room in her home for others. She served alongside her husband, the late Raford Petty, for over 45 years in various churches in the United States from Denver, CO to Miami, FL and everything in between. Finally settling down in Athens, AL in 1985 she worked as a Branch Office Administrator at Edward Jones for 33 years until retirement.

Marie loved to travel, golf, go out to eat, shop and watch movies. I think what she loved the most about all of these activities was doing them with her family.

Mrs. Petty is survived by her daughter Audrey Juckett (Luther), of Athens; son Wayne Petty (Susan), of Athens; grandchildren Douglas Juckett (Miriam), of San Antonio, TX, Camille Whitlock (Jeffrey) of Smyrna, TN, Emily Petty, Lisa Joy (Micah), of Elkmont, and April Mahafza (Joseph), of Huntsville; great-grandchildren Allison Whitlock, Lydia Whitlock, Jackson Joy, Joanna Joy, and Titus Mahafza; sisters-in-law Kate Petty and Loretta Knight; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Raford Jackson Petty; brothers Iris Knight (Ann) and Truman Knight; and sister Armeda Knight.

Visitation for Mrs. Petty will be Thursday, May 18th, 2023, from 4:30-6:30pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Spann Funeral Home in Dickson, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the following:
