Graveside services for Mary Wylodene Evans Strait, age 85, of Prattville, will be held on Monday March 23, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Community Church Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Acre officiating.
Ms. Strait passed away on Friday March 20, 2026 at the Prattville Baptist Hospital. She grew up in Wadley and graduated from Wadley High School, then went to Trade School in Birmingham for two years. She was a former resident of Lagrange, Georgia later moving to the Montgomery area and finally settling in Prattville. She worked for several years for the Montgomery Advertiser as a proof reader. One of her favorite memories was listening to southern gospel music and attending singing school.
She was survived by her sons, David Mallory (Brenda) of Prattville and Bert Strait of Deatsville; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her sister Josie Harris of Wadley; and a brother Lamar Evans of Wadley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oakley Evans and Henry Lee Morgan Evans; a sister Wilka Neighbors and one infant sister.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday before the service from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
