Mary Wisdom – Obituary

Mary Wisdom, 76, of Decatur, formerly of Florence, passed away October 27, 2015. She was born in Florence and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Sacred Heart of Cullman. Mary was a graduate of the Coffee High School class of 1957. She lived in Decatur for the past 11 years to be able to spend more time with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 9 – 11 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Mike Schmidlkofer presenting the eulogy. Burial will follow in Florence City Cemetery.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Edward and Elma Rabon Schmidlkofer; a sister, Ethel Schmidlkofer.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Wisdom (Tammy) and Frances Love; and granddaughters, Katie and Emily Love; her “adopted” son, Raymond Love (Karen); and numerous cousins.

Active pallbearers will be Raymond Love, Joe Patterson, David Cole, Bradley McMurtrey, David Berrens, and Blake Peters.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Mike Schmidlkofer, Danny Schmidlkofer, Glenn Bevis, Barbara, Ernestine, and Sara Ann Kotthoff,

Mary was a hairdresser for 50+ years in Florence and taught cosmetology for two years at Burrell Slater and Tri-Cities Beauty School. After retirement she spent time with her grandchildren and organized a craft group in her apartment complex that made hats for NICU babies and cancer patients. She loved photography, especially of flowers and researching family history.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to a local Botanical Garden in her name or your favorite charity.
