Mary Ennis Williams Mary Williams, 91, beloved mom, granny, and great-granny, was born in Toney, AL on September 9, 1933, to George Dewey Jones and Georgie Dale Weaver Jones and passed away on April 18, 2025 in Ardmore, TN.
She attended Mable Hill elementary school, Hazel Green high school, and the University of AL in Tuscaloosa, where she received her teaching degree. Mary taught at several schools in northern AL, including Toney elementary and Madison Crossroads. Her love, dedication, and compassion made a lasting impression on so many of her students.
Mary is survived by her children, Michael Little, and Tanya (Jeff) Cleary, granddaughter, Annie Cullen, great-grandson, Mason Mertens, her sister Ruth Swift, nieces Nina (Daniel) Goodman, Anita Jones, Nephews Ben Swift, Jon Swift, Sam Swift, Frank (Diane) Giardini, Steve Giardini, Richard “Buster” Little, in-laws Erlyne Gentle and Ron Little, step sons, Johnnie and Lonnie Williams, step-grandchildren Donna Shaw, Barbara Stump, Cindy Gibson, Tim Gibson, Jack Shaw, Jr, Michael Williams, Andrew Williams, Bethany Tibbs, Daryle & David Williams, and many other cherished friends and relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Robert Jones, son, David Little, brother-in-law, Ivan Swift, grandson, Noah Cullen, and both her husbands, James Little, and John Williams. She and John were childhood sweethearts, who found each other again in their late 60s and enjoyed 17 happy years together.
In lieu of flowers, Mary requested that donations in her name be made to Doctors Without Borders, Southern Poverty Law Center, or the ACLU. As per her wishes, a private family memorial will be held. Condolences may be sent to Tanya Cleary at 18492 SE Heritage Dr, Tequesta, FL 33469
