Mary Wages Profile Photo Mary Wages, 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born on October 3, 1944, to the late Foster and Inez Dunham Cox. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Mary married the love of her life, Melvin Wages, 64 years ago. Together, they built a life centered on love and devotion, raising three wonderful children in whom they took great pride. Mary cherished her family deeply, guiding presence who always encouraged them to walk the right path.

In 1972, Mary stood faithfully beside her husband as they began the family business, Wages Roofing. She served as the office manager, dedicating herself to ensuring the business operated smoothly and successfully. Over the years, she also found joy in traveling and was an avid bowler

Mary’s faith was the foundation of her life and the source of her strength. She was a devoted follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived each day as a reflection of His love. A strong and courageous woman, Mary gave selflessly to others. She was a faithful member of Furrs Baptist Church, where she spent countless hours in prayer and in guiding others in their walk with Christ.

She is survived by her loving husband, Melvin Wages; three children, Robert Wages (Evelyn), Greg Wages (Pam), and Kellie Miller (Ken); three grandchildren, Blake Wages (Tori), Kelsey Miller, and Kora Miller; one great-grandchild, Griffin Wages; one sister, Shirley Allred; one brother, Truman Cox; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Foster and Inez Dunham Cox; and one sister, Francis Miller.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Furrs Baptist Church.

A Celebration of life honoring Mrs. Mary will be at 12 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, at Furrs Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Franks and Bro. Robbie Moss officiating. A graveside service will follow at Zion Presbyterian Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ken Miller, Kelsey Miller, Gene Dill, Thomas Allred, and Richard Allred.

Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Miller and Blake Wages.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Mrs. Mary Wages may be made to Furrs Baptist Church at 9011 MS-6, Pontotoc, MS 38863.
