Mary Virginia Murrah Reeves, “Ginger,” 81, of Decatur, Alabama was born February 14, 1942 and passed away surrounded by family on October 2, 2023.
Funeral service will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at First Bible Church, 3202 Spring Avenue, Decatur Alabama, 35603. Visitation will be 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the church prior to the service. Interment at Roselawn Cemetery immediately following the Service. Shelton Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Ginger was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Her family moved to Decatur in 1959. She was a 1960 graduate of Decatur High School and one of 3 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Lee Murrah and Vivian Hanigan Murrah.
Ginger was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother and great grandmother, loyal sister and friend to many. She was a committed follower of Christ, student of His word, active in church, and loved singing in church choir. She was active in Community Bible Study for more than 30 years. She was a committed prayer warrior and met monthly with a group of friends to pray. She attended Camp Farthest Out (CFO) yearly and was active in its leadership. She shared her love of Jesus with her grandchildren and took them with her to Community Bible Study and CFO for many years. She also loved reading and traveling.
She was a lab-technician at Monsanto Chemical Company for 9 years, then joined the family business and worked with her husband as an appraiser and real estate agent until she retired.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Reeves; children Steve (Jamie) Reeves and Greg (Jesslyn) Reeves; grandchildren, Jessica Reeves, Emily (Joe Seo) Reeves, Audra Reeves, Colby Reeves, Maysen Reeves, Hunter Reeves, and Ascher Reeves; great granddaughter, Lenox Reeves; sisters Vivian (Bob) Clayton and JoAnn (Tom) Lance; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
