Mary Tytula Burcham passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 30, 2026, after valiantly fighting a difficult battle with cancer.
Mary was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on August 20, 1968, and grew up there with her loving parents. A 1986 graduate of Grissom High School, she enjoyed cheerleading for the soccer and wrestling teams. She went on to attend both Auburn University and UAH, graduating in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. Throughout her life, she remained a passionately dedicated Auburn fan.
Mary was a beloved member of Calvary Bible Church in her younger years and later of Madison Bible Church, where she remained a member until her passing. She maintained a strong faith in the Lord throughout unimaginable trials and tribulations, and her faith and perseverance served as an inspiration to many.
Above all, Mary was an incredible and loving mother to her three sons. She loved them unconditionally and was always there for them with open arms and a smile, offering heartfelt advice as they navigated life’s challenges. She took great joy in supporting her sons in their schooling, sports, hobbies, and other endeavors.
Mary was an avid reader, runner, gardener, and interior designer in her spare time. She had a gift for creating cozy, welcoming spaces in her home as well as beautiful outdoor landscapes. Some of her favorite pastimes included taking trips to Fort Morgan and other Gulf Coast beaches and enjoying movie nights at home with her family. She was also an animal lover and lovingly cared for several pets throughout her life, most recently her dogs, Rocky, Fen, and Brownie, and her cats, Wren and Brody.
Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Tytula; her uncle, John Beck; and her grandmother, affectionately known as “B.”
She is survived by her parents, Tom and Barbara Tytula; her three sons, William Burcham (Rachael), Wesley Burcham (Alisa), and Wyatt Burcham; and her two granddaughters, Cahnan and Armorie.
Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Madison Bible Church, followed by a funeral service at 11. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
