Mary Sue Thompson, age 94 of Decherd, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born on November 10, 1930, to the late Johnson and Mary (Coker) Walls. A dedicated homemaker, she was a wonderful cook and enjoyed canning her own vegetables. When she was able, Mary Sue enjoyed riverbank fishing and cheering for the Atlanta Braves. Her caring and nurturing nature was evident through the love shown to her beloved family, always cherishing the times spent together. A devoted Christian, she was of the Nazarene faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Thompson; and siblings, William Walls, Annie Walls, Ollie Mae Perry, Andrew Jake Walls, Oma Dell Walls, Preston Walls, Laura Walls, and Lizzie Walls. Mary Sue is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Thompson; brother, James (Jane) Walls; sisters-in-law, Shirley Walls and Patricia Arnold; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Thompson officiating.
