Mary Sue Bevel, 92, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Wednesday.
She was preceded in death by husband, James L. Bevel; daughter, Denise Powers; parents, George A. & Viola Connally and siblings, Alton Connally, Charles Connally and Gladys Cooper.
Surviving are daughters, Carol Hedden, Pam (Tony) Stewart and Beverly (Doug) Reed; grandchildren, Adam Hedden, Dean Hedden, Clay Hedden, Jenna Stewart Hillis, Brittany Stewart Snellen, Deanna Powers Spencer, Blake Powers, Ben Reed, Lindsey Reed Paradise and Peyton Reed; son-in-law, Jim Powers; and nine great grandchildren.
She was born, raised and lived her entire life in New Hope and the surrounding area. She was a member of the New Hope church of Christ and in recent years enjoyed attending the Owens Cross Roads Women’s Lift Group
She worked in the manufacturing industry specifically in the electronics division at Chrysler where she retired in 1993.
Throughout her life Mary Sue enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and gardening. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and she was known by many for her sourdough “grandmother’s bread”, corn, pecan pies and banana pudding.
She was not afraid of hard work as evidenced by the many many cans of green beans, tomatoes, and other vegetables preserved for family. She was truly “farm to table”.
Mary Sue enjoyed laughter and “having a big time”! Her friends and neighbors enjoyed chatting and laughing with her regularly. She was a gregarious person and that will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Saturday 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will follow Saturday at 1:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Adam Hedden, Dean Hedden, Blake Powers, Ben Reed, Payton Reed and Chad Spencer.
Interment will be in Hayden Cemetery.
