Mary Ruth Sandy left this life on April 18, 2016. She was born April 26, 1931, and was 85 years with us. Though not well educated, she was wise and well spoken way beyond her schooling. She was a housewife, homemaker, and mom her entire adult life. She was a dear friend to many and shared her faith in many different capacities and circumstances. She’ll be sorely missed by her remaining family and friends, although the scourge of dementia had rendered her unable to recognize or recall them in recent years.

She is survived by her son, Keith and wife, Laura; grandsons, Grayson and Evan Sandy and Jonathan Haeger and wife, Lindsey; and granddaughter, Carlisle Sandy. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. She was especially close to her loving friend and niece, Martricia Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George; her daughter, Diane Haeger; her son, Ron; her parents, Charley and Cora Ballard; sisters, Bea Hines and Elois Williams; and brother, William Ballard.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, at Muscle Shoals Baptist Church with Doug Farris conducting.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons, who distribute Bibles around the world. Donate at gideons.org, by mail at The Gideons International P.O. Box 140800 Nashville, TN 37214-0800, or by phone at 1-866-382-4253
