Mary Ruth Gardner, 88 of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Limestone Health Facility. Mrs. Gardner was born on October 3rd, 1933, to William Straud Norton and Willie Ophelia Smith Norton.
Mrs. Gardner is survived by her sons William David Gardner, Jr. and Kevin Lee Gardner; daughter Beverly Gardner Freeman (Butch); grandchildren Maegen Wilhite (Scott), Matthew Gardner, Will Gardner, and Noah Gardner; great-grandchildren Harrison Wilhite and Oliver Wilhite; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband William David Gardner, Sr.; brothers Albert Norton and George Norton; and sister Nella Pepper.
A graveside service for Mrs. Gardner will be Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at 2:30pm at Roselawn Cemetery, with David Cox officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00-2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
