Mary Reed Wyle, age 101, passed away on February 8, at her home in Dunedin, Florida. Mary was born August 19, 1914 in Hartsville, TN to Ola and Sam Gregory. Mary moved from Tennessee to Detroit, MI, where she worked most of her life for the railroad.
After retiring from the Railroad in Detroit, MI, Mary lived in Dunedin, Florida, Lafayette, Tennessee and Huntsville, Alabama, surrounded by family and friends. Her faith in God and the strength she gained from that faith saw her through many hard times and remained a source of inspiration to all who knew her. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping, watching great-grandchildren play sports and being an active member of her local church. Her family was very important to her and she lovingly cared for family members whenever she was needed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Raymond Reed and Burrell Wyle; two sons, Ray Reed (Jackie), Huntsville, AL and Ralph Reed (Helen), Concord, MI. She is survived by her son, Jerry Reed, Dunedin, FL; sister, Robbie Ford, Lafayette, TN; brother, Colonel James Gregory, Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Lance Reed (Candice) of Providence, RI, Keith (David) Reed of Savannah, TX, Dee Reed (Donna) of Huntsville, AL, Debbie Batson (Pat) of Huntsville, AL, Cindy Riddle (JR) of Concord, MI, and Landy Reed (Sallie) of Pulaski, MI; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Lacey, Jessica, Kyle, Nathan, Daniel, Terra, and Casey; great-great- grandchild, Jase; several nieces and nephews; foster daughter, Linda Booker of Dunedin, FL; and brother-in-law, Richard Ulam of La Porte, IN. Mary was devoted to her family, and her kind and graceful approach to life brought joy to many around her.
A private family gathering will be held in Huntsville with interment in Concord, MI at Maple Grove cemetery.
