Funeral services for Mary Peterson, age 91, will be held Friday January 23, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shelton Funeral Home, with Joel Pigg officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday January 22, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Shelton Funeral Home. Private graveside services at Bowers Chapel.
Mrs. Peterson passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Dyer Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, in Dyer, TN.
Mary Ann Peterson was born November 5,1934 in Gibson Wells, TN to Fred and Lockie Bowers. She graduated from Peabody High School in 1953 and married the love of her life, Ray Peterson in 1955. After working for Brown Shoe Company in Trenton, she retired in 1990. She often spoke fondly of her work family.
Mary Ann was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church in Trenton where she was active in ladies missions. She was the best Mom, Nana, and friend. She lived life to the fullest.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Diane Green; grandchildren, Sam Green (Ashley), Carla Hoskins (Micah), Megan Warmath, John Warmath (Marlee) and James Green. Her great grandchildren, DaniLynn Warmath, Rowe Warmath, Bryndle Cavaness, Bo Green, Jase Green, and a precious baby boy due in April.
Special grandchildren, Ashley Johnstone (Jeremy), Dalton Neisler (Hunter) with great grandchildren, Rhett Johnstone, Rebecca Johnstone and Hazel Neisler. She loved her many nieces and nephews more than anything.
Mary Ann was proceeded in death by her husband, Ray of 41 years, her parents, her brother, Obie Bowers, and daughter, Donna Warmath.
