Mary Pauline “Miss Polly” Turberville, age 92, of Cherokee, died on Saturday, September 8, 2012. The funeral service will be Monday, at 2:00 p.m., at Harris Chapel Baptist Church, with her son-in-law, Bro. Sam Wallace, officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Turberville was a charter member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as the first church secretary. She, also, organized the community center in Cherokee.
Mrs. Turberville is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Doshie Kimbrough Thompson; husband, Marcy Lee Turberville; son, Larry Joe Turberville; brothers, Ebra Thompson, Elmer Lee Thompson, Willie Thompson, and James Thompson; and sisters, Ola Wheeler and May Ogletree.
Survivors include daughters, Brenda Wallace (Sam), Charlotte Deaton (Danny), and Joyce Thorn (Wayne); grandchildren, Mike Wallace, Dwight Wallace, Marc Wallace, Andy Thorn, Knox Thorn, Larry Joe Turberville Jr. (Bubba), Cathy Schneider, Debbie Howard and Anya Deaton Askew; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mike Wallace, Dwight Wallace, Marc Wallace, Larry Joe Turberville Jr., Andy Thorn, and Knox Thorn.
