Mrs. Robertson went to be with her Lord on Saturday morning August 22, 2020 at the age of 89.
She was born on January 19, 1931 in McNairy county in the Mud Creek community as the fourth child of Monroe McKinley and Mary Vadie English Droke. All of her other siblings preceded her in death. They were Wilburn Ray Droke, William Raymond (Toey), Ruth Droke, Billy Earl Droke, Clyde Myrle Droke Landerth, and David (Dee) Fletcher Droke, all from McNairy County.
Mrs. Robertson also leaves three sisters-in-law: Mary Ruth Wilkins Droke (Ray) of Selmer, Mary Sue Droke (Raymond) of Mud Creek, and Mary Alice Droke (Dee) of Stantonville.
She was married to James A. Robertson on June 4, 1950. They made their home and raised their family in the small farming community of Hookers Bend in Hardin County. Her husband was a farmer and preceded her in death on April 10, 2003. They had four living children: David R.(Ronney) Robertson
(Nancy) of Germantown, TN; Rickey Lynn Robertson (Nancy) of Hookers Bend; Mark Anthony Robertson (Pam) of Hookers Bend; and Julie Ann Robertson Finley (Jerry) of Saltillo.
Mrs. Robertson was briefly employed by Brown Shoe Company in Savannah in 1955, but spent her entire married life as a homemaker devoted to her children and family. She was known in the community for her yard full of flowers and plants that she loved to collect and care for. She always had a vegetable garden and was diligent in her efforts to freeze and preserve food for her family and friends. She loved taking care of her grandchildren in their early years, as well as cooking and preparing meals for her family and friends. She was always generous with her time and resources for those in need in her family and community.
Mrs. Robertson was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Hookers Bend since the early 1950’s and devoted much of her time to the church and its members. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are David Reid Robertson
(children Sam and Emma) of Savannah; Crystal Robertson Austin (husband Wade and children Alyssa, Hannah, and Emma Ruth) of Adamsville; Laura Robertson Dawkins (husband David and children Jude, Silas, Asher and Sophia) of Barcelona, Spain; Joshua Robertson (wife Christen and children Mason and Brooks) of Yokosuka, Japan; Lindsey Robertson Bishop (husband Andy and children Josie, Violet, Eden and Scarlet) of Collierville; Lane Finley of Saltillo; Heath Robertson (wife Heather and children Case, Reed and Charlotte) of Adamsville; Mathew Robertson (wife Tamra and children Carter, Harlow, Landen, Kenlee and Jett) of Morris Chapel; Jamison Finley of Saltillo; Maegan Robertson Qualls (husband Chase and children Jayden, Callen, and Chloe) of Hookers Bend; and Morgan Robertson of Hookers Bend.
The family would also like to acknowledge and thank her caretakers Diane Martin, Kay Scites, and Joann Allison for their devotion and help to Julie as she cared for our Mother and Mamaw in these last years, months, and weeks of her life. We also want to acknowledge and thank our neighbor of 70 years, Mrs. Ann Ross, who has always been at our mother’s side during both good and trying times.
We are all thankful for the time we had with our mother and grandmother, and we have all been blessed by her in so many ways throughout the years.
Mrs. Robertson will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we are comforted by knowing she is now with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
