Mrs. Mary Lou “Big Mama” Hester Scott, 76, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at her residence while surrounded by her loved ones. She was born July 31, 1939 in Lee county, MS to William B. Hester and Nora Lee Russell Hester. She worked in the meat processing industry for many years before retiring. She was the wife of Bobby Gene Scott. She enjoyed visiting with family and making crafts. She loved caring for all her family.

A gathering in celebration of her life will be at 4 PM, Friday (today) at her residence, 5258 Purnell Road, Belden, MS. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is assisting the family. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Betts of Belden and Belinda Usher (Benjamin) of McCondy, MS; two sisters, Doris Pannell of Saltillo and Shirley Ann Rutledge (Larry) of Troy; four grandchildren: Crystal Usher and Monique Usher of Odessa, TX, Joseph Betts (Danica) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Saunda Betts of Memphis, TN; seven great grandchildren: Ava Betts, Gavin Betts, Logan Betts, Brenna Betts, Bryson Betts, Benton Little, Ethan Little. A host of beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Gene Scott; sister, Robbie Nell McCullough; four brothers, W. B. Hester, W.C. Hester, Thurman Hester, and Eddie Wayne Hester. a special nephew, Bobby Lee Hester.
