It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Lee King Smith, age 81, of the New Harmony Community of Arab, Alabama. Born December 17, 1943, in Marshall County, AL, Mary was a beloved daughter of Silas King and Nola Mae Collins. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Albert Wayne Smith, in 2017.
Mary was known for her love of exploring thrift stores and enjoyed eating out with her daughter, Candy. Above all, she treasured spending time with her loved ones, creating lasting memories and sharing her warmth. Mary will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to her family, and the joy she brought to those around her.
She is survived by a large and loving family, including her children, Candy Baker (William), Vicky Pearce (Jimmy), Joey Smith (Karen), and Tina Vanegas; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Sonny King (Wanda), Kenneth King (Dorothy), and Phillip King; and sisters, Viola King, Martha Corbin, and Sis King.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. Smith; parents, Silas King and Nola Mae Collins; son, Chad Lawayne Smith and daughter, Tracy Smith.
Services for Mary will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00PM. The funeral service, officiated by Brother Gary Harvell, will begin at 2:00PM. Honored to serve as pallbearers and escorting Mary to her final resting place in New Harmony Cemetery will be Jordan Pearce, Jagger Smith, Ethan Pearce, Billy Pezzeca, Dylan Woods, Connor Foster, and Willie Smith. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
