Mary Lee Frances Jackson Hanger, age 78 of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at her home. Born to the late Joseph Lee and Nola Lee Steele Jackson, she began life in Sinking Cove, Tennessee. Frances was a member of the Goshen Cumberland Presbyterian Church since her youth, and she was an eager servant there, teaching, serving as an elder, leading the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministry, and cooking many amazing meals for the church and the community. She was lovingly devoted to her husband and workmate, William Lee (Bill) Hanger, Sr., until his passing. They both had hearts for volunteer work, working tirelessly and joyfully, side by side, hand in hand, for the church and for many projects locally and with the Telephone Pioneers. They spent many years working with their beloved Camp Bluebird, a camp for adult cancer survivors, where Frances cooked many yummy meals for the entire camp. She spent her life making a warm and loving home for all her children and anyone lucky enough to happen along and be loved and fed in her home. Her grandchildren called her Granny and loved spending time romping through her house and around the farm. Frances worked throughout the years with Sears and Roebuck, Franklin County Election Commission and Franklin County Board of Education, and various offices in the county. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, her sister, Sarah Jackson Smith, and precious granddaughter, Mary Abigail Money.
