TowsendHomegoing Service for Mrs. Mary L. Townsend, 70 of Decatur, Alabama will be held at 1:00 p.m.on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Bell P.B. Church, Elder Ben Burt, Host Pastor and The Rev. Otis T. Dixon, Officiating. Inhumation will follow in Decatur City Cemetery- Sterrs Addition.

Mrs. Mary Lee Watkins Townsend was born in Trinity, Alabama on May 14, 1943 to the late James and Catherine Neal Watkins.

She was a dedicated and retired employee of the Prestolite Electric Company where she was a machine operator.

She departed this life on December 13, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital, in Huntsville, Alabama.

She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Bell P.B. Church and later united with Providence M. B. Church, where she was a faithful mother and choir member. She was married for 51 years to Willie James Townsend, Sr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia Carol Townsend; one sister, Cora Boykins, six brothers; George, Sidney and James Simpson, John T., Ernest and Sam Watkins.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband, Willie James Townsend Sr.; two devoted daughters, Mrs. Dara (Greg) Jackson, and Mrs. Jan (Karle) Rogers; three sons, Willie James Townsend Jr., Terry (Meredith) Townsend and Marlow (Sonya) Townsend; ten grandchildren, Jason, Lanetta, Karlos (Candas), Chad, Ahreanua, Zeiera, Aaliyah, Blake, Devin and Destini; one great-granddaughter, Karleigh; eight lovinggodchildren, Johnnie (George), Katie Mae, Deborah, Annie Faye (Fred), Earnestine, Robert, Jerry and Thomas; five special friends, Catherine Mosley, Viola Bevels, Magdalene Moore, Annette Robinson and Emma Lynch; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews and Flower Bearers will be granddaughters and nieces.
