Mary-Kay Mummert Edgil – Obituary

Mary-Kay Mummert Edgil, born May 9, 1933, died peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2018 in Decatur. She is survived by her husband, Thomas D. “Tommy” Edgil; three children, Miriam (Fausto) Vega of Nashville, Tennessee; Randy (Joanne) Mummert of Bremen, Alabama; Jimmy (Lissa) Mummert of Columbus, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Gordon (Hailey) Douglas of Fort Mill, South Carolina; Sam Douglas of Charlotte, North Carolina; Randall Mummert of Acworth, Georgia; Will Mummert of Opelika; James Inscho (Julia Eddens) of Hartselle; Matthew (Whitney) Inscho of Decatur; James Mummert, Anna Mummert and Patrick Mummert, all of Columbus, Georgia; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Schmidt; six great-grandchildren, three stepchildren and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Miriam Schmidt; brother, James Schmidt; and by husbands, Gordon Mummert and Hal Kuehnert.

Mary-Kay was a resident of Decatur since high school and worked in the family business, Schmidt Oil Products, Inc. for more than 30 years. When she wasn’t working she was active in various social, gardening, volunteering activities, and spending time with her family.
