Mary Kathryn Carey, age 87 of Nauvoo, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at her residence.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Old Flatwoods Cemetery. Donny Dodd will officiate.
Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her Husband-John William Carey; Dad-Lewis Isom Smith; Mom-Martha Nelson Smith; Daughter-Camilla Darty; Son-Terry Dale Carey; Brothers-Carlos Smith and Lewis Smith, Jr.; Sister-in-law-Rita Smith; Sisters-Quilla Dotson and Georgia Barnett.
She is survived by her Daughter-Karen Currington (Allen); Son-in-law-Phillip Darty; Brother-William “Buddy” Smith (Melva); Sister-in-law-Shelby Smith; Grandchildren-Tiffany Buchanan, Terry Carey (Kimberly); Brandy Carey, Allen Currington, Jr., John Currington, Savannah Darty and Arron Buchanan; Great Grandchildren-Gage Buchanan (Emmi), Jacob Buchanan, Malorie Carey, Forrest Carey, Kason Wright, Brayden Benton, Payton Currington, Paisley Currington, Aubrey Myers and Braxton Currington.
Pallbearers will be Gage Buchanan, Jacob Buchanan, Arron Buchanan, AJ Currington, John Currington, T.C. Carey, Josh Dotson and Chris Dotson.
