Mary Kathleen Violet age 77 of Smithville, passed away Saturday August 31, 2019 at her residence in Smithville. She was born February 21, 1942 to her parents, the late Collie R. and Angie Townsend Mattox. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and Richard Daniel, Carlean and Edward White, Vola and Wheeler Phillips, and Elaine Mattox; brothers, Noel Mattox, Austin Mattox, Collie Mattox, JR., and Clay Mattox. Mrs. Violet was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and she loved fishing. She was Primitive Baptist from her youth and a member of Mt. View Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Violet was the co-owner and manger of Granny’s Goldmine, diamond, gold and silver sales. Mrs. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Bro. Paul Violet of Smithville; children, Rick (Joyce) Violet of Lawrenceburg, David (Rebecca) Violet of Cookeville, Mark (Kim) Violet of Smithivlle, and Kathy (Randy) O’Connor of Franklin; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters Lucille (Bobby) Franklin of Columbia, Hazel Perry of Lawrenceburg; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 6:PM Monday, September 2, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Kevin Rhody and Bro. Ricky Arnold officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 12 Noon at Second Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Five Points, Tennessee. Visitation with the family will be Monday September 2, 2019 at 3:PM until the time of the service at 6:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
