Mary Katherine Sammet, 88, of Athens, Alabama passed away on Monday, June 02, 2025, at her residence in Athens, Alabama.
She was born on Saturday, February 13, 1937, in Athens, Alabama to the late Mr. Walter H. White Sr. and Mrs. Maybelle Emerson White.
She was a member of Wooley Springs Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School classes. Katherine was a loving great grandmother who devoted her life to her family. Mrs. Sammet enjoyed driving a school bus as well as spending her free time painting and gardening. She was always doing for others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Celia Rose, four brothers; Walter White Jr., Billy White, Charles White and James White, two sisters; Lucille Miller and Hazel Hutcheson, as well as one grandchild, Cameron Hope Rogers.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lewis Sammet, two daughters; Cheryl (Sonny) Gilbert and Beni (Rickey) Yant, one son-in-law, Terry Rose, six Grandchildren: Pennie (Jeremy) Smith, PJ (Glen) Beddingfield, Alicia (Colby) Webb, Hayden Rose, Levi (Brittany) Gilbert, Will (Carissa) Gilbert, nine Great-Grandchildren, one great greatgrandchild, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, AL, beginning at 2:00 PM with Bro. Matthew Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Germantown Cemetery, located in Athens, AL.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home will be assisting the family with services.
