Mary Jo Page Fogle
Aug 10, 1934 – May 30, 2022
Mary Jo Fogle, 87, of Huntsville passed away Monday, May 30. She was the daughter of G.R. and Mary Burgess Page. Mary Jo was born in Huntsville, grew up in Jackson, AL, and returned to Huntsville prior to graduation from Huntsville High School in 1952. She attended classes at North Alabama Business College, before accepting a secretarial position on Redstone Arsenal. It was there she met her husband, Valmore Fogle. They married June 12, 1955, and moved to Columbia, SC where she worked at Fort Jackson.
Upon Valmore’s graduation from the University of South Carolina, they moved to Syracuse, NY and later back to Huntsville where she devoted most of her time to being a wonderful mother to her four children and a devoted wife to Valmore for 58 years.
She was a devoted Christian woman after accepting Christ as her savior in 1955. Mary Jo and her husband were founding members of Meadow Hills Baptist Church which later became Calvary Baptist Church of Huntsville, AL. Her dedication to her faith was shown throughout her life as a frequent Sunday School teacher, a Vacation Bible School teacher, and a church librarian.
Her home was always open to guests and visitors from all over the world. She liked to say she had experienced everything from the Great Depression, World War II, NASA’s birth, and the Saturn V Program to having her own computer and email.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Valmore; her brothers, Rabon, Milton and Wade; and her parents, G.R. and Mary Burgess Page. She is survived by one daughter, Louise Abbott (Terry) of Harvest; three sons, Frank R. Fogle (Beth) of Guntersville, Joseph P. Fogle (Jane) of Rileyville, VA, Andrew V. Fogle (Ishella) of Muscle Shoals, AL; one brother, William D.
