Mary Jean Cox age 82 of Athens, AL passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mrs. Cox was born April 7, 1934 in Limestone County, AL to Elmer Moss and Mary Lou Barnes Moss.
Graveside services will be Thursday, September 8, 2016 1:00 p.m., at Sandlin Cemetery with Brent Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cox was a member of First Union Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary Lou Moss; husband, Carl Pettus; ex-husband, Norman Cox; two sisters, Bernice Blakely and Rosie Mae Moss; brother-in-law, Leonard Hill.
Survived by three daughters, Annie Lou Sandlin and husband, Raymond of Rogersville, AL, Linda Dianne Ridgeway and husband, Dale of Athens and Lou Ann Nash and husband, Kevin of Marshall Islands; two sons, Andy Wade Pettus and wife, Belinda and Timothy Ladell Pettus both of Athens; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Danny Moss and wife, Diane, Jimmy Moss and wife, Peggy and Billy Moss and wife, Doris all of Athens; one sister, Joyce Ann Hill of Athens; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Sandlin, Dale Ridgeway, Tim Pettus, Adam Pettus, Trent Pettus and Keith Ridgeway. Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Ridgeway and Cash Petus.
