Mary Jean Box (Aufmuth), 86 of Killen, died unexpectedly May 10, 2024 at North Alabama Medical Center.  She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Stephen and Anna Aufmuth.

 

Mary Jean, known to friends and family as “Sam” was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother.  She loved spending time with her family.  Her biggest love was for her husband James Marlow Box whom she had been married to for 68 years.

 

Surviving family members include her husband James Marlow Box, daughters Debra and husband George Murphy, Laura Eversman, Terry McHugh and husband Billy and son Edward Box (Gaye).  Mary Jean’s 10 grandchildren were her pride and joy.  Tom (Joene) Murphy, Stephanie (James) Boccarossa, Patricia (Mike) Lacewell, Nick Barabas, Matthew (Rachel) Barabas, Justin (Stephanie) Box, Travis Box, Sean McHugh, Devin McHugh, Taylor McHugh Elizabeth Asmondy and great grandmother to 16.  Beloved sister-in-Law to Donna (Dwight) Llewellyn, Melvin (Marie) Box and many nieces and nephews.

Her Memorial Service will be held at Colbert Memorial Chapel on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 2pm.
