Mary Jean AppleburyMary Jean Applebury passed away on April 23, 2026, in Collierville, Tennessee, at the age of 95.
She was born on November 27, 1930, in Lexington, Tennessee, to the late A.J. and Mae Roberts Webb. She grew up in Wildersville and graduated from Lexington High School. In the early 1950s, she moved to Memphis, where she raised her children. Once they were older, she built a long and dedicated career with the City of Memphis where she worked as a clerk in Treasurer’s Office, retiring at the age of 70.
Mary Jean was a member of Great Oaks Church of Christ in Bartlett, TN. She was known as a hardworking and social person who loved staying active. She enjoyed gardening and shopping, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. She was truly a people person who was loved by everyone who knew her and especially treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, David Applebury (Jennifer); her daughter, Susan Westmoreland (Ronnie); three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family has chosen cremation. A graveside memorial service will be held at Hare Cemetery in Lexington, details to be provided as soon as available.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
