Mrs. Mary Janell Sims age 79 of Morrison TN (Caney Branch Community) died Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Barton House in Nashville, TN. She was born September 11, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana, was a homemaker, and loved taking care of her grandchildren. Janell enjoyed quilting, sewing, and cooking. Mrs. Sims was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents Elston Louis and Elsie Beatrice Nunley Whitlock and her husband W.R. Sims.
Survivors include her children Marsha (Doug) Beecham, Martha (Lebron) Ferguson, and Keith (Rhonda) Sims, grandchildren Jessica Beecham (Kevin Kovacs), Lora Beecham (Richard Kovacs), Hayden Ferguson, Haylee (Jordan) Hayes, Bailey (D.J.) Krouse, and Keragan (Dalton) Morris, great grandchildren Emmy Ferguson, Grayson Kovacs, and one on the way – Madden Morris, and her brother Roy (Linda) Whitlock.
The funeral service for Janell Sims will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 15, 2026 in the McMinnville Funeral Chapel. Keith Sims and Lebron Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Morrison, TN. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
