Mary Jane “Janie” Miller, 65, of Muscle Shoals, AL, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024. Her family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 12-2pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The service will follow at 2pm. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Janie was a dedicated Emergency Room nurse. She served as director of the Emergency Dept. for the last six of her 31 years working in the Helen Keller Emergency Dept. After retiring she worked as a travel nurse for Indian reservation hospitals in New Mexico and Arizona where she fell in love with the Native American people and culture.

Janie had an undeniable spiritual bond with God, nature, and animals. Known for her witty sense of humor, she brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and “Jammie”.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Kay Andrews.

Janie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ricky Miller; daughters, Emily Lesley (Matt), and Lisa Parker (Tony); son, Kevin Miller; grandchildren, Evan, Kellan, and Everett; father, Roger Andrews; sisters, Beth Arnette (Mike), and Becky Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family gives a special thanks to all of those who have helped Janie over the years during her health struggles and especially to the staff of the Helen Keller Emergency Dept. for their wonderful care for Janie and her family.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Colbert County Animal Shelter in Janie’s memory.
