Mary Jane “Boots” Gober Finney, 96, of Birmingham, Alabama, died Dec. 22, 2016.
Boots was born in Florence and lived much of her early life in the Tri-Cities area where she graduated from the University of North Alabama and worked for TVA. In 1953 she married Charles T. Finney. They moved to Decatur in 1965 where they raised their two daughters, and Boots was active in the community theater, Green Thumb Garden Club, First United Methodist Church, and other civic organizations. She worked as a member of the Morgan County Board of Registrars. In 2000, she moved to Birmingham.
Boots is survived by her children, Diane O’Brien (Michael) and Susan Ragland (Denny); and grandchildren, Robert O’Brien, Elizabeth Ragland, and Kate Ragland.
She was predeceased by her husband and her brother, Edgar M. Gober III.
Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 27th in the chapel at First United Methodist Church, 518 19th Street North, Birmingham. Visitation is 9 a.m. and memorial service at 10 a.m. Family graveside service in Florence at a later date.
