Mary Imogene (Jeannie) Mills was born May 29, 1933 in Guys, TN, the daughter of the late Rupert Lee and Abbie Lou Williams Smith.
Mrs. Mills was a member of the Fourth Street Church of Christ in Selmer, Tennessee. She was married to Herbert Wilford Mills for 32 years. She worked for Brown Shoe Company and ITT of Selmer, both for many years. Mrs. Mills was “the baker of the best pecan pies ever!” She loved Basketball, playing while she was in school, and watching the Memphis State Tigers and the Memphis Grizzlies.
Mrs. Mills departed this life on October 27, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 4 Months, 28 Days.
She is survived by three daughters, Janie Henry and husband Tim of Selmer, TN, Regina Lambert and husband Mike of Selmer, TN, Lisa Burkeen of Selmer, TN; a son, John Mills and wife Cathy of Selmer, TN; a sister, Peggy Smith of Corinth, MS; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Yancey, Tammy Henry, Brent Lambert, Andrea Kent and husband John, Christie Burkeen, Amy Lambert, Lauren Burkeen and Brooke Mills; four great grandchildren, Jamie Yancey, Mary Logan Yancey, Alisha Dean and Logan Dean; and her dog Princess.
In addition to parents, Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wilford Mills; a infant daughter, Shearron Mills; a son, Dwayne Mills; and a brother, R. L. Smith.
