Mary Helen Peacock, age 81 of Auburn, went to be with her Lord on December 19th, 2022.

Mary Helen was originally from Decatur, Alabama. She arrived in Auburn after high school to attend college at Auburn University, where she earned a degree in education and was an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. While still a student at Auburn she married Edward Jordan Peacock. After a brief stay in Atlanta following graduation, they returned and made Auburn their permanent home for the next 45 years until his passing in 2007.

Mary Helen excelled as an elementary school teacher, positively impacting the lives of countless children in a career spanning over four decades and including tenures at both public and private schools in the area.

She was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church in Auburn and most enjoyed teaching children’s Sunday school there. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a life-long teacher, a follower of Christ, and a great friend to many. She will be dearly missed by those she left behind with a great anticipation of rejoicing in reunion in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed, and a granddaughter, Hayden. She is survived by three children: Kelly (Jon Townson), Hurst (Erin) and Drew (Brandi), and five grandchildren (Addison, Berkley, Mason, Emily and Logan) and her brother, Ralph Hurst (Sharon).

A public service will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at Parkway Baptist Church in Auburn with a visitation beginning at 9:30 and a memorial service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude’s Hospital.
