Mary Grace Howard “Mama” Horton Minor, age 80, of Vinemont, AL, passed away on March 6th, 2021 surrounded by family at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Mary was born July 28, 1940, the youngest child of William Bryan Howard and Hazel E. (Brunner) Howard of Cullman, AL. She graduated from West Point High School in 1958 and continued on to graduate from Saint Bernard College in 1967. She retired after 30 years of teaching at Falkville and Vinemont High Schools where she was known affectionately by her students as “Mama Horton”. After her retirement, she went on to work as a Unit Secretary at Cullman Regional Medical Center for 10 years. She was married to Johnny Ray Horton, Sr (1958-1978) and Rodger Joe Darrell Minor (1986-2015). Mary is survived by her two daughters, Dana Horton (Lee) Long and Sherry Minor (Gilbert) Tucker; three sisters, Naomi Johnson, Betty Norris and Jo Ann Oakley; ten grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Horton, Kevin Moffitt, Chanda (Paul) Collins, Johnathan “Bubba” (Nicole) Easterwood, Bama Minor Brooks, Anna Grace Minor, Darrell Joe Minor, JoLee Long, Sidney Long (Tyler) Kelley, and Michael Long; and thirteen great grandchildren, Tyler Reyes, Olivia Daniels, Peyton McDearmon, MaCayla Cash, Gracie Horton, Camille Horton, Caiden Collins, Jaci Baker, Everly Collins, Joseph Easterwood, Carson Easterwood, Kinsley Kelley and Beckham Kelley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; her two sons, Johnny Ray Horton, Jr. and Gregory Joe Minor; one brother, William H. Howard; three brothers-in-law, McGlon “Mack” Johnson, John “Buddy” Norris and Joseph Oakley; one sister-in-law, Faye Nell Howard; and one grandson, Johnny Ray “Trey” Horton, III. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 12, 2021, from 6-8pm at Moss Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 11am at Moss Funeral Home followed by the procession to Cullman City Cemetery.
