Mary George McCain Anderson, affectionately known as Mary George, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, at Huntsville Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday, a milestone that reflected the vibrant and fulfilling life she lived.
Born on May 18, 1935, Mary George found immense joy in the warmth of her family and the excitement of college sports. Whether cheering for her favorite teams or offering her legendary game day insights—holding what many considered an honorary degree in SEC football and basketball strategy—she embraced every moment with enthusiasm and humor. Her impeccable taste led to founding Anderson Interiors and her professional career as an interior decorator.
She is survived by her son, Brent Anderson, and wife, Amy Douglas Anderson, of Milton, GA. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Jessica Hill Fain and husband, Charles Fain; Brent’s children, Sydney Monroe Anderson, Loren “Miller” Anderson, Wynn McCain Anderson, and Noah Scott Vinson of Milton, GA.
Mary George was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Regina Hill; and husband, E.R. Anderson, and now rests alongside him in eternal peace. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving behind a family enriched by her love, wisdom, and enduring spirit.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at First Christian Church, where friends and family will gather to share cherished memories and honor her remarkable journey. Date and time will be announced.
