Mary Freeda BarnesMary Freeda Thomason Barnes, age 85 of Tuscumbia, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018. Her visitation will be Wednesday, October 3, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 p.m. with Jesse Thomason officiating. Burial will be in Barton Cemetery.

Freeda was a native of Cherokee and a member of the Church of Christ. She worked at ASCS office for Colbert County and retired from Rogers Department Store. She was a wonderful character and everyone who knew her loved her. Freeda had a great impact on everyone who met her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey (Brit) Barnes; grandson, Roger Dale Bugg, Jr.; parents, J.T. and Tellie Thomason; and sister, Teresa Thomason.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Brit Barnes, and wife De; daughter, Kathy Barnes Wagnon, and husband Ricky; brothers, Jesse Thomason, Jimmy Thomason and wife Nella; sisters, Betty Ditto, Carolyn Mayfield, Donna Kay Kimbrough, and Sheila Howard and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Mary Bugg Page, Andy Barnes and wife Ashley, Wade Barnes; great-grandchildren, Briley, Lilly, Cash and Cassidy June; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kruzn for a Kure
Foundation at www.kruznforakurefoundation.com.

Pallbearers will be Andy Barnes, Jimmy Thomason, Jimmy Choat, Steve Rich, Frank Kelly and Greg Kimbrough.

She lived her life for the love of God, the love of her family and the love of her friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Vasik and staff, Hospice of North Alabama and especially Gail Reeves.
