Mary Estelle Farlow – Obituary

Mary Estelle Farlow, age 84, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at NHC Columbia.

Mary-Farlow-1454254804 (1)Mary was born on September 12, 1931 to the late Joe Burks and the late Pauline Wiseman Burks in Kizer, Arkansas. Mary was married to Alvin Farlow Sr. and the two shared forty-two years together before his passing. She worked as a dietician at a nursing home for nearly twenty years. Mary was truly a kind person and would give you the shirt off her back. She had a true servant’s heart and knew no stranger.

The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee with Pastor Dave Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Mary is survived by her daughter Shirley Boyle of Columbia, Tennessee; granddaughters Dawn (Robert) Herbert of Florida, Tabitha (Ernest) Jackson of Kansas, and Aimee (Chris) Spires of Culleoka; grandsons Christopher Potts of Theta, Jason (Jennifer) Gill of Lewisburg, Joshua (Honnah) Gill of Lewisburg, Daniel Boyle of Columbia, Aaron (Heather) Turner of Columbia, Tim Turner of Columbia, and Bradley Butler of Columbia; daughter-in-law Debbie Farlow of Columbia; ten great-grandchildren; sisters Paulette (Jim) Howell of Lawrence County and Wanda (William) Massey of Mt. Pleasant; brother Joe (Linda) Burks of Summertown; four sisters-in-law; and special friends Ellen Spires, Connie Parsons, Lynn Prosser, Mike Prosser, Mavis Daniels, Wayne Jones, Dave Baker, Chenoa Lee, Brooke Webster, and Lexis Jones.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Farlow Sr., daughter Beverly K. Butler, son Alvin Farlow Jr., brother James E. Burks, and parents Joe and Pauline Burks.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Gill, Jason Gill, Aaron Turner, Tim Turner, Daniel Boyle, Robert Herbert, and Chris Spires.
