Mary Ellen Pettigrew Wall, 75, died Friday, September 2, 2016 at the North Miss. Medical Center Hospice after a long struggle with cancer. Born on Jan. 12, 1941 in the Union Community south of Plantersville to the late Theron Pettigrew and Sarah Conwill Bratton, Ellen grew up there and graduated from Nettleton High School in l959. She later attended Itawamba Junior College and received an Associate’s Degree in Business. Ellen’s working career included over 38 years at Bancorp South where her business skills were legendary. Upon retirement, she was executive secretary for the Chief Financial Officer. She married Don Wall in l985. They enjoyed their home and yard, traveling and socializing. Ellen dressed to the 9’s, was always elegant and in good taste. A member of Cason Baptist Church, she lived life to the fullest, enjoyed her family and friends and will be missed by all.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Elder Steve Weaver officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 PM-6PM today all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.
Survivors include her 97 year old Mother, Sarah Bratton of Amory; her husband, Don Wall of Tupelo. 2 sons, Rickey Hood of Baldwyn and Ronnie Hood (Carla) of Amory. Her grandchildren, Barley Hood Lindsey (Jesse), Lindley Hood Williams (Kelby), Steven Hood, Jasmine Hood and Rheanna Hood. 6 great grandchildren, Reed Parker Lindsey, Frankie Kay Lindsey, Kai Harrison Williams, Emily Hood, Lillie Hood and Waylon Hood. She was preceded in death by her dad, Theron Pettigrew on Oct. 19, 2011.
