Mary Ellen Hitt, age 80 of Huntsville, passed away peacefully while in the company of daughters on Friday morning, March 22, 2019. She was loved dearly by her family and friends. She was born August 15, 1938 to Grover and Gypsy Ladeen Farrow Wilson on a Riverboat on the Tennessee River in Savannah, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by three of her five children: Patricia Ann Bruton, Thomas Eric March and John Thomas Marsh; her husband Edward Leon Hitt; and her siblings Richard “Buddy” Wilson and Cora Hand. She is survived by her children Lola Catherine Johnson and Mary Helen Whitmer; sister Angie Champion. She was a loving grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 25, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Spry Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Spry Funeral Home with interment in Maple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Maxwell, Chris McClung, Chase McClung, Colby Whitmer, Justin West and Paul Hall.
