Liz Kent went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2016, with her family by her bedside. She passed away peacefully after battling M.S. for over 48 years. Visitation will be today at Roselawn Funeral Home from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with funeral service to follow.

Dr. Rob Jackson from Central Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, on Saturday at the Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Liz was born in Princeton, West Virginia on July 25, 1947, to Billie Rowland and Frances Bridges Rowland. She moved with her parents to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in 1955. She attended the University of Tennessee where she met her husband, Marty. They moved to Decatur in 1971 and became very involved members of Central Baptist Church.

Liz was and will always be a loving daughter, wife, mother, Nana and friend. Her and Marty’s love story has been an outstanding example of unfailing love and devotion. Her life journey was an inspiration to all who had the privilege to know her. Her eyes, smile and laughter would light up a room, and her never ending positive spirit prevailed through all the health limitations she faced. Even though M.S. took away her physical strength, it never robbed her of her grace, courage and love.

She was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her mother, Frances; her husband of 48 years, Martin Kent; and her son, Jeffrey Kent and his wife, Shana; and two grandchildren, Chad and Cara.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.

Roselawn Funeral Home assisted the family.
