Mary “Elaine” Austin, age 63, passed away Jan. 3, 2017. Visitation will be today from 1-2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ronnie Pannell and Barry Gilreath officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Elaine was a 1971 graduate of Mars Hill Bible School and attended Freed-Hardeman College and the University of North Alabama. Prior to her retirement, she enjoyed a career in the banking industry for over 30 years.
There was a special place in Elaine’s heart for children. She lovingly crocheted/knitted a baby blanket for each niece and nephew and added yearly to their personal Christmas ornament collection. She was a life-long member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ where she enjoyed working with children in various classes and activities. Other favorite pastimes included baking or making something special for others to let them know she cared.
Elaine was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Austin, and just recently by her brother, Doug Austin.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Loveless Austin, sisters, Rebecca Watts and Vickie Green (Tom), and sister-in-law, Kathy Austin, all of Florence; aunt, Nel Loveless; and seven nieces and nephews; and two great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Nick Watts, Austin Green, Adam Austin, and Benjamin Murphy.
