Mary Audrey Jeffreys Smith, age 91, of Sheffield, died Sunday, August 4, 2013. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Hendrix Road Baptist Church, Underwood- Petersville Community. Her body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Andy Wallace of Florence, AL and Gary Woodring of Anderson, Indiana will officiate and burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Lawrence County and a member of Hendrix Road Baptist Church. She spent her early years in Wolf Springs and attended Wolf Spring School. She was very active in her church, serving in many positions from teacher to clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron A. Smith; her parents, James Martin and Bertha Maude Butler Jefferies; her brothers, Alvie, Willie, Millard, Denzil, and Ralph Jeffreys; her sisters, Fannie Stokes and Mae Hall.
She is survived by her sons; Wendell Smith (Sharon), Byron Smith (Theresa); daughter, Elaine (Smith) Wright, eight grandsons, one grand-daughter, four great grand-sons, and two great grand-daughters and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are her grandsons; Daryl, Derek, Dexter, Denison, Dorian Wright, Josh Smith and great grandson, Justin Wright.
Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Jeffreys, McCoy Stokes, Jim Hulsizer and Steve Baskins. Special music will be by her grandsons; Matt and Drew Smith and the Hendrix Road Singers.
The family expresses special thanks to Park Place Retirement Home and Florence Nursing and Rehab for their wonderful care of our mom and her family.
